How SomatoEmotional Release
works
A natural progression of CranioSacral Therapy is a process called SomatoEmotional ® Release (SER).
At times of high stress or emotional sensitivity the body may retain the imprint of emotion in the tissues of the body. SomatoEmotional Release is a process of assisting the body in integrating these emotions.
Kerry, our CranioSacral Therapist and Somatoemotional Release Practitioner, utilises a light touch to perceive the rhythmic movements of the craniosacral system. Throughout a session, Kerry may pinpoint areas of emotional blockage and apply gentle manipulations to facilitate the release of these tensions. This process is typically soft and non-invasive, concentrating on fostering a safe environment for emotional processing and release.
Therapeutic Dialogue: As a trained Counsellor, Kerry may engage in conversation to help you connect with your physical body and become aware of sensations and restrictions related to emotional experiences.
Physical Manipulation: Techniques are utilised to gently alleviate tensions in the soft tissues and fluids surrounding the central nervous system.
Emotional Release: Clients often undergo a cathartic release of emotions, resulting in a significant sense of relief and understanding.

The Science Behind SomatoEmotional Release
The concept of somatic emotional release is based on the of the fascial system, a connective tissue that surrounds and interacts with muscles, nerves, and organs.
Research in psychoneuroimmunology and biodynamic osteopathy suggests that trauma and emotions can lead to physical blockages within the fascial system, affecting overall health.
Studies indicate that techniques used in somatic emotional release, such as gentle manipulations and craniosacral therapy, may help reduce stress, relieve pain, and enhance both emotional and physical well-being by releasing these blockages.
These methods assist in activating the body's parasympathetic nervous system, promoting relaxation and healing.
